The Bijogos Villages

The villages consist of mud-brick houses roofed with thatched grasses.
The Bijogos people are farmers and their villages are situated in the hinterland. Their living depends mainly on agriculture: cashews, tropical fruits, rice, peanuts, cotton and palm oil.

Most fishing in Guinea-Bissau's waters is presently not done by Bissau-Guineans but by Senagalese people.

The Bijogos people are friendly people and during your visit you will discover their way of life and distinctive customs. Don’t miss your chance to interact with the Bijagos culture of West Africa.

According to their agenda, you will be able to participate in one of their ceremonies with Bijagos women and children performing traditional songs and dances.

The Old Capitals

Bubaque, Bolama : the remote colonial cities...

According to your itinerary, you will be able to visit these cities and their abandoned houses, dating from Portuguese colonial days.

Back to Bissau Harbour you will have the opportunity to visit the capital founded in 1687 by Portugal. It is the country's largest city, major port, and administrative and military center.
